What legally applies to your degree
Recognition of non-university qualifications is a state procedure with published rules: an academic transcript covering at least the last three years, apostille or legalisation depending on your country (EU/EEA citizens are exempt), an official Spanish translation and a small fee. The Ministry publishes country-specific equivalence tables — all of Latin America and the Philippines included — and the Document Agent validates your file against your country's table before filing anything.
The detail almost nobody tells you: the application is filled in online, but filing happens at an official registry — from abroad, at the Spanish embassy or consulate. And the real asset is the conditional enrolment slip: once the file is registered you can enrol conditionally for 6 months without waiting for the decision, whose legal deadline is 3 months. The Regulator Agent tracks the file to the credential, subject to the Ministry's decision.

Which documents your file requires

Homologation to the Bachiller title carries fee 079 (form 790), with a current amount of €49.76 — the exact amount is shown by the form itself when generated, and the Ministry updates it periodically. Homologation to the ESO title is fee-exempt. From abroad, the fee is paid by transfer to the Ministry's official account.

What is the Spanish homologation of a secondary diploma for?
It is the requirement to access Spanish universities and higher vocational programmes with foreign secondary studies, and the way to officially prove your education level to any Spanish administration or employer.
Can a representative file the application?
Yes: the official procedure admits a representative with an original signed authorisation from the applicant, plus the representative's identity document. It is the route we use when you cannot attend the registry yourself.
What if my studies don't map directly to my country's table?
The country tables determine which Spanish year each record maps to. If your progression doesn't fit directly, the Ministry decides case by case — we tell you in the initial review, before filing and before you pay any fee, subject to the Ministry's decision on each file.
Is the procedure 100% online?
No. The application is completed at the Ministry's e-office, but the official procedure requires filing it at an official registry with the documents. From abroad you file at the Spanish embassy or consulate in your country — we prepare everything so it takes a single visit.
Can I enrol while it resolves?
Yes — it is the key piece of the procedure. The conditional enrolment slip allows conditional enrolment in schools and official exams for 6 months from its registration. It does not prejudge the decision, but it saves the academic year.
How long does the decision take?
The legal deadline is 3 months from a correctly completed file, with negative administrative silence. The Ministry publishes no statistics on real times; that is why the 6-month slip exists, and why we always obtain it.
Does ESO homologation carry a fee too?
No: homologation to the ESO (compulsory secondary) title is exempt. Fee 079 applies to homologation to the Bachiller title.
