Spain's digital nomad visa for €600, fully online.
For remote workers employed by companies outside Spain who can prove a minimum income tied to the Spanish minimum wage. Fully online, before the UGE-CE.
Spain's digital nomad visa for €600, fully online.
Spain's international telework authorisation (Law 28/2022, processed by the UGE-CE) lets you live in Spain while working remotely for companies outside the country. It can be requested from Spain while in a regular stay — granting 3 years — or as a consular visa, and requires at least a 3-month relationship with the company plus a higher-education degree or 3 years' experience.
The income requirement is at least 200 % of the Spanish minimum wage: with the 2026 SMI (RD 126/2026), around €34,188 per year — a figure that changes whenever the SMI does. The legal decision period is 20 days, with positive administrative silence.

Spain's digital nomad visa: What you have to prove.
Genuine remote work for companies outside Spain
The file has to show the work can be done at a distance and that whoever pays for it sits abroad. It is evidenced with the employment or services contract and the company letter. If you are employed, work for Spanish companies does not fit; if you are self-employed, only as a minor share of your billing.
Requirement 1 of 6At least 3 months of prior relationship
A contract signed last week is not enough: the relationship must predate the application and be documented. That is why bank statements and payslips or invoices for the last 3 months are requested — they evidence both the seniority and the income level at once.
Requirement 2 of 6Income of at least 200 % of the minimum wage
With the SMI in force in 2026 under RD 126/2026 (€1,221 across 14 payments, €17,094 a year), the threshold lands around €34,188 a year, roughly €2,849 a month. That number stops being valid the day the minimum wage moves, so we recalculate it against the rule in force when your case opens rather than against this page.
Requirement 3 of 6A degree or 3 years of experience
A university degree or one from a recognised business school works, and so does at least 3 years of professional experience in the relevant field. The CV always travels with it, because it is what makes the degree, the experience and the role you telework actually add up.
Requirement 4 of 6A foreign company with real, documented activity
You provide the commercial registry certificate from the company's own country, which is what proves it exists and has been trading for a while. When the employer is small or recently incorporated this is the point that triggers the most correction requests, so it is requested on day one, not at the end.
Requirement 5 of 6Social security coverage settled
You must evidence contributions in Spain or, where a bilateral agreement exists, a coverage certificate from your home country, via the corresponding declaration. It is a parallel procedure with its own timing: start it late and it becomes the bottleneck.
Requirement 6 of 6Does your case fit?

This is guidance, not a decision: approval depends on the administration and on the complete file.

No office to visit, no phone calls and no waiting for someone to tell you where your case is: you can see it yourself, whenever you want.
From wherever you are
You open your case and upload documents from your phone, whether you already live in Spain or are still in your home country. No office visits.
Stage by stage, nothing missed
You see which stage your case is in, which document is missing and which one is already reviewed. Every change is logged with its date, so you never depend on a callback to know how it is going.
Your questions, with the people handling your case
You ask from inside your own case file and the immigration team handling it answers — not a WhatsApp number that can stop replying. Every action is written down, with a name on it.
Nothing is filed half-done
The file is not submitted until it is complete: that is what keeps it from being returned, and what saves the most months. Once filed, the official receipt appears inside your account.

The application is registered with the competent authority. You see the date and the receipt in your file.
Stage 4 of 5Decision
The authority decides and notifies, with the next steps explained inside your case file.
Stage 5 of 5Spain's digital nomad visa: How long it really takes.
| Step | How long |
|---|---|
| Gathering the documents | 2 to 5 weeksSet by the company's registry certificate and your criminal record, with their legalisation. |
| Review and case preparation | A few daysThe file is not submitted until complete; income is recalculated against the minimum wage in force that day. |
| Filing with the UGE-CE | OnlineNo in-person appointment: the Law 14/2013 procedure is fully electronic. |
| Decision | Legal period of 20 daysThat is the legal period of the Law 14/2013 regime, not a forecast: any request for documents pauses the clock. |
| Consular visa | Only on the consular routeIf you apply from abroad, the visa and its timing depend on each consulate. |
| TIE card (fingerprints and card) | After a favourable decisionAppointment and the 790-012 fee separately, with the permit already granted. |
The 20 days are the period the law sets for a decision, not a commitment we or the UGE-CE can make: any request for documents stops it, and administrative silence is a technicality of the procedure, never a way to obtain the permit. What is in our hands is filing complete, first time.
Spain's digital nomad visa: What gets files returned — and how we stop it.
Calculating income against last year's minimum wage
What it costs you
The threshold rises when the minimum wage rises. A file built on the old figure comes in below the minimum and draws a correction request that means gathering fresh payslips or invoices.
Billing mostly Spanish clients
What it costs you
It breaks the premise of the permit, which is telework for companies abroad. Worth reviewing your client mix before filing, because no document fixes it afterwards.
Filing with less than 3 months of relationship
What it costs you
The required seniority is not met and the file falls. Sometimes the answer is simply to wait a few weeks and file with the three months already evidenced.
Evidencing income with the contract alone
What it costs you
A contract says what you should be paid, not what you are paid. Without bank statements and payslips or invoices behind it, a correction request arrives and the 20-working-day clock pauses.
Leaving social security to the end
What it costs you
Registration, or the coverage certificate from your home country, moves at its own pace. It is one of the few parts of this case that depends neither on the UGE-CE nor on us, which is why it runs in parallel from the start.
Foreign documents without legalisation or sworn translation
What it costs you
A registry certificate or criminal record that is not properly legalised counts as not submitted. It is the most common correction request, and the most avoidable.
Spain's digital nomad visa: the questions we get most.
Can I work remotely for a foreign company from Spain?
Yes — that is exactly what this permit authorises, with at least a 3-month relationship with the company and documented remote activity. Work for SPANISH companies has its own limits depending on whether you are employed or freelance.
What is the minimum income required?
200 % of the Spanish minimum wage: with the 2026 SMI (RD 126/2026), around €34,188 per year (about €2,849 per month). The figure is recalculated whenever the SMI changes, so we give you the current year's number when reviewing your case.
How long does it take to decide?
The legal period is 20 days with positive silence, under the fast-track Law 14/2013 regime. It is a legal period, not a promise: the UGE-CE can request documents and the clock pauses.
Can I include my family?
Yes: the case file includes family members as their own block (passports, marriage or birth certificates and, for adults, criminal records). They apply together or reunify later.
I am a freelancer with several clients — does that work?
Self-employed telework fits if your clients are mostly outside Spain and you can evidence it with contracts. We tell you whether your income mix qualifies before opening the case.
Is it better to apply from Spain or at the consulate?
From Spain, if you are here on a regular stay, the permit is granted for 3 years; the consular route gives a 1-year visa that later converts into a permit. Which one applies depends on where you are today and when you need to start, not on one being better in the abstract.
How do I prove the 3-month relationship?
With the employment or services contract, the company letter, and bank statements, invoices or payslips from the last 3 months. All three tell the same story: the relationship exists, predates the application and has actually been paid.
What about my taxes if I live in Spain as a teleworker?
Becoming a resident in Spain has its own tax consequences, including the special regime the press calls the 'Beckham law', with its own conditions and application deadlines. That is separate from this case and not covered by our fee: speak to a tax adviser before you move.
My degree is not recognised in Spain. Does it still count?
Qualification can be evidenced with a university or recognised business school degree, or with at least 3 years of professional experience in the field. If recognising the degree also matters for you, that is a separate case that can run in parallel.
What if the company I work for was founded recently?
The company must have real, continuous activity, evidenced with its commercial registry certificate. With recently incorporated employers this is the point that draws the most correction requests, so we check it before filing rather than after.
Can I pay in two instalments?
Yes, with no interest or surcharge: the total is identical either way. The first half opens your case and starts the document review; the second is paid when we file your application — if we have not filed, you do not pay it. You request it from your case file and someone from the team confirms it within 24 working hours.
Are official government fees included?
No: Booka's fee covers review, preparation, filing and follow-up. Government fees are paid directly to the administration, and we tell you which ones apply and when inside your case file.
Applied for from Spain, the permit runs 3 years and is renewable if you still meet the requirements — starting with income, measured again against the minimum wage in force then. Family members can join the same file or reunify later. How Spain taxes a resident teleworker is a separate matter with its own rules, worth discussing with a tax adviser before you move.
